Trip Highlights
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire – Game Viewing & Mobile Camp Experience
Your Tanzania Mobile Camping Migration Safari begins with a morning collection from your hotel in Arusha. Meet your expert safari guide and set off for Tarangire National Park, a hidden gem known for its ancient baobab trees, sweeping savannahs, and one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa.
Spend the day exploring the park on thrilling game drives, where you’ll have the chance to spot lions, leopards, giraffes, zebra, and large herds of elephants moving through the iconic landscapes. During the dry season, Tarangire becomes a wildlife magnet, with animals congregating around the Tarangire River — offering exceptional game-viewing opportunities.
As the sun begins to set, you’ll head to your private mobile camp, already set up by our dedicated camp crew, chefs, and supply team in a scenic and secluded location within the park. Enjoy the comforts of spacious canvas tents, each outfitted with stretcher beds, as well as a shared mobile toilet and bush shower exclusively for your group.
Unwind around the campfire as your chef prepares a hearty dinner under the stars, and fall asleep to the distant sounds of the African bush — your adventure has truly begun.
Day 2: Full-Day Exploration of Tarangire National Park
Enjoy a peaceful morning in the bush before setting out for a full day of game viewing in Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic and wildlife-rich parks. Known for its vast baobab-studded landscapes, Tarangire is home to massive elephant herds, big cats, giraffes, zebras, and countless bird species.
Follow the Tarangire River, a lifeline for animals during the dry season, and explore open plains, woodlands, and seasonal swamps where predators and prey interact in their natural rhythm.
Return to your mobile camp for a freshly prepared lunch, then head back out for an afternoon game drive, making the most of the golden light and increased animal activity as the day cools. As the sun sets, return to camp for a warm meal and a relaxed evening under the stars.
Day 3: Lake Manyara Safari & Drive to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
After breakfast, depart Tarangire and head to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day of game viewing. This lush park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions, flamingo-lined lake, large troops of baboons, and dense groundwater forests that provide a unique contrast to the open savannah of other parks.
Enjoy exploring the park’s rich ecosystems and scenic beauty, with a picnic lunch served at a designated spot inside the park. In the late afternoon, exit Lake Manyara and begin your scenic ascent into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Arrive at Simba Campsite, perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, just in time for sunset views over the vast volcanic caldera. Settle into your mobile camp, enjoy a hearty dinner, and prepare for tomorrow’s descent into one of Africa’s greatest wildlife havens.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Safari & Maasai Cultural Visit
Rise early for breakfast before descending into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Known as the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, the Crater is home to a high concentration of animals, including lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, and the endangered black rhino. With its enclosed ecosystem and lush landscapes, it offers one of the best chances to see the Big Five in a single game drive.
Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor, surrounded by incredible scenery and wildlife. In the afternoon, ascend the crater walls and visit a traditional Maasai Boma, where you’ll gain insight into the customs, culture, and daily life of the Maasai people.
Return to Simba Campsite on the crater rim for your second night under the stars, with dinner served by the camp team and time to reflect on a truly unforgettable day.
Day 5: Journey to Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge & Afternoon Game Drive
After an early breakfast, depart the Ngorongoro highlands and begin your journey toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. En route, stop for a guided visit at the Olduvai Gorge Museum, often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind.” Learn about the region’s fascinating anthropological history and view archaeological discoveries that have shaped our understanding of early human evolution.
Continue into the heart of the Serengeti, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive across its endless plains. This is big cat country, and sightings of lions, cheetahs, leopards, and massive herds of herbivores are common as you explore the central Seronera region.
As the sun sets, arrive at Seronera Campsite, where your mobile camp awaits. Enjoy dinner under the stars and fall asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness.
Day 6: Full Day of Game Viewing in Central Serengeti
Today is dedicated to a full day of game drives in the Central Serengeti, one of the richest wildlife areas in all of Africa. The Seronera Valley is renowned for its abundant year-round wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and vast herds of buffalo, zebra, and wildebeest.
Explore a variety of landscapes—from riverine forests and rocky kopjes to sweeping savannahs—while tracking predators and witnessing the raw beauty of nature in motion. Depending on the season, you may also encounter portions of the Great Wildebeest Migration, as massive herds move in search of fresh grazing.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing your exploration into the afternoon. Return to Seronera Campsite in the evening for a hearty dinner and a final night under canvas in the heart of the Serengeti.
Day 7: Central Serengeti to Mara River – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Area)
Depart camp at dawn after an early breakfast and travel north through the Serengeti’s remote wilderness toward the Mara River in the Kogatende region, an area renowned for its dramatic Great Migration river crossings between July and October.
Spend the day game viewing along the riverbanks, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather — often facing the perilous crossing watched closely by crocodiles and predators lying in wait. This region also offers excellent chances to see elephants, giraffes, lions, and cheetahs, set against a backdrop of rolling hills and acacia-dotted savannah.
After a full day of unforgettable wildlife encounters, return south to your mobile campsite in the Lobo area, where dinner awaits under the stars. Rest up for more incredible sightings in this remote and wildlife-rich corner of the Serengeti.
Day 8: Full Day Game Viewing – Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Region)
After breakfast, set out once again for a full day of game viewing in the Kogatende area of the Northern Serengeti. This region offers some of the most dramatic wildlife scenes in Africa, especially during the Great Migration season when herds gather at the Mara River, creating tension-filled moments as they prepare to cross.
Spend the day exploring the rugged riverbanks, open plains, and wooded ridges, keeping an eye out for predators, crocodiles, and the ever-moving herds of wildebeest and zebra. Sightings of elephants, lions, leopards, and hyenas are also common in this remote and less-traveled corner of the park.
In the late afternoon, return to your Lobo Campsite for dinner and a well-earned rest beneath the vast Serengeti sky.
Day 9: Flight from Lobo to Arusha – Safari Concludes
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning in the Serengeti before transferring to Lobo Airstrip for your scenic bush flight back to Arusha. Soar over the vast landscapes you’ve explored over the past days, taking in a final aerial view of the Serengeti plains and the Great Rift Valley below.
Upon arrival in Arusha, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel or onward connection. This marks the end of your unforgettable Mobile Camping Migration Safari through Tanzania’s most iconic national parks.
Depart with unforgettable memories, incredible wildlife encounters, and a deep connection to the wild beauty of East Africa.
