The Flamingo Walk at Lake Natron offers a serene and visually stunning experience in one of Tanzania’s most unique landscapes. Guided by a local Maasai guide, visitors walk along the shores of the lake, surrounded by striking red-tinged waters and dramatic volcanic scenery. Lake Natron is East Africa’s only breeding site for lesser flamingos, and during the right season, thousands of these elegant birds can be seen feeding and nesting in the shallow, mineral-rich waters.
This gentle walk provides incredible photo opportunities and insight into the delicate ecosystem that supports these rare and beautiful birds.
Duration: Approximately 1–2 hours.
Distance: The walk covers about 2–4 km, depending on the water level and bird locations.
Location: Lake Natron area, about 5–10 minutes’ drive from most nearby lodges or camps.
